Founder

NurtureDream.org Inc. was founded by Diane Hansen, author of the upcoming book, Day Care Nightmare: Our Inhumane Practice of Separating Babies from Their Mothers and the Truth We Need to Heal.

The Problem

Currently in America, babies even less than a month old are being put into institutional day care—all day—five days a week. In her book, Diane clearly shows how:

  • Day care is harmful to babies; and
  • Babies do much better when they stay with their mothers longer.

This problem is spreading. In other countries where, traditionally, babies were almost never separated from their mothers, the practice of putting babies in day care is catching on. It’s considered more modern.

The Solution

Babies need to stay with their mothers whenever possible. Diane established NurtureDream.org to help that happen.

The Steps

Educational

The initial focus of NurtureDream.org is educational, informing mothers, future mothers, human resource managers who set leave policies, and others who influence societal policies of the importance of helping keep babies with their mothers.

Scientific

An important part of our educational process is to encourage further scientific research into this subject. Diane references a lot of research in her book, but she also notes where more research is needed.

Prevention of Cruelty to Children

For some babies, day care is downright cruel, and those involved often don’t know what the problem is. As awareness of the problems with day care for babies becomes more widely known, more of this cruelty can be prevented.

Charitable

Our first charitable step is to fund education. Diane is releasing her book under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license and making it available for unlimited free download and sharing. Diane will also be making public and media appearances, but she will not charge any speaking fees.

Down the road, our second charitable step will be to fund further research in this area. We look forward to getting to the point where this is possible. Meanwhile, we will do what we can to help support researchers in other ways.
